You have finished one campaign, or you have drifted away from one, and you want something to play next. The Discover page lists published World Seeds, each one a starting point you can clone into your own campaign. The catalog is simple on purpose, so choosing well is mostly a matter of knowing what each part of a card is telling you.

Here are three ways to use it.

Read the detail page before you press Play

A card in the catalog shows a thumbnail, a name and the Author's display name. That is enough to catch your eye and not enough to decide. Open the card and you get the detail page, which carries more of what you need.

Look for the prose description first. It is written by the Author and is the clearest statement of what the world is about. Below it you may find a style of play and a tone note. The tone note is guidance the Author wrote for the narrator, so it is a good preview of how scenes will be voiced: wry, grim, gentle, tense.

Then read the advisory tags. Authors label content such as violence, horror or romance, and the labels are there so that you are not surprised by a world that is not what you are in the mood for. Worlds that carry an advisory tag are only shown to signed-in, age-verified accounts, so what you see in the catalog depends on who is signed in.

A useful habit: decide beforehand what you want from the next campaign in one sentence ("a slow mystery", "something with a clear villain"), then read three detail pages against that sentence. The description that makes your sentence easy to answer is usually the right one.

Use the signals, and know their limits

Some cards show a play count, and some show a coarse rating label with the number of people who rated. Both are deliberately conservative. A play count only appears once a World Seed has reached a minimum number of plays, and a rating label only appears once enough distinct Players have given a verdict, so that a single vote cannot be picked out and one early opinion cannot define a world. If a card shows neither, that usually means the world is new or lightly played, not that it is poor.

Ratings are given by Players from inside their own campaign, as a simple recommend or do not recommend. They are shown as information. They do not reorder the catalog, which is listed newest first.

So treat these signals as a tiebreaker, not a verdict. If two worlds both match your sentence and one has a good rating label, take that one. If a world with no signals matches your sentence much better, take the gamble. The cost of trying is low, because starting a campaign does not touch the original.

Try a different style on purpose

If your last campaign was an RPG adventure, the instinct is to look for more of the same. Fabulator's landing page has a Showcase with filter chips for style of play (RPG, sci-fi and romance), and Authors can set a style on their World Seed to appear under one. Filtering by a style you do not usually pick is a cheap way to see how much the narration changes.

This tends to be where replay value shows up. The same narrator in a different world, with different canon, different characters and a different tone, reads like a different game. You also keep your habits: the way you question people, the way you plan, the way you use what you carry. They carry over, and they feel fresh in a new setting.

Returning to an old favourite

Replaying a world you already know is also a legitimate choice. Because each campaign is cloned from the original, nothing you did earlier is overwritten when you start again. A second run lets you take the other faction's side, ask the questions you skipped, or go to the place you never reached. Starting locations can differ between runs when an Author has marked more than one, so even your first scene may not repeat.

Pick something and start

Open Discover, choose a world that matches your one sentence, and begin a new campaign. If it does not suit you within a session or two, you can set it aside and try another. The catalog will still be there, and so will your earlier campaigns.
